Dr. Biruk Lambisso – Award-Winning Orthopedic Doctor In Addis Ababa

Dr. Biruk Lambisso has many years of experience as an orthopedic surgeon at Addis Ababa University. He is an expert in performing joint replacements, arthroscopy, and spinal surgeries. Dr. Biruk graduated from the Gondar College of Medical Sciences (GU) and completed his specialty studies in orthopedics from Addis Ababa University. He has made numerous contributions to the field of medical ethics and medical professionalism in rural parts of Ethiopia under the programs of the Surgical Society of Ethiopia and the Federal Ministry of Health.

The most notable achievement of Dr. Biruk Lambisso was successfully operating on a teenage girl with a parasitic twin in June 2012. For this, he was honored by the Parliament of Ethiopia. Further, He also lent his expertise to develop software to assist in gauging the disability rating for musculoskeletal disability in Ethiopia. He is the first orthopedic surgeon in Ethiopia to win the prestigious International AO-trauma fellowship by Beit Trust Cure International Hospitals. During this period, he gained significant experience in spinal operations, Ilizarov frames, and total hip and knee replacements. 

Dr. Biruk desires to see Ethiopia as a center of advanced orthopedic care where patients are treated accurately with modern technology and expertise. He aspires to witness the budding doctors under him lead extensive research and make Ethiopia a leader in effective, high-quality orthopedic care.
