Ortho Focus Hospital Accra
Our Hospital
Built in 2012 in the capital city of Accra, Ghana, the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital is an ultra-modern 50-bed specialty facility providing services to adult and pediatric patients in need of orthopedic care.
Specializing in complex spine and joint replacement surgeries, the FOCOS Hospital is fully accredited to operate both inpatient and outpatient departments.
In July 2014, the FOCOS Orthopedic Hospital became an official international affiliate of the renowned Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) in New York City.
Founded by world renowned orthopedic surgeon Dr. Oheneba Boachie-Adjei, who is a native of Ghana, West Africa. Dr. Boachie-Adjei, began FOCOS by serving the medical needs of patients in Ghana in 1998.
With the support of more than 250 international volunteers, Dr. Boachie-Adjei and FOCOS would go on to sponsor four medical mission trips each year using the local government hospitals in Ghana. The Team of FOCOS volunteers completed hundreds of free complex spine surgeries on adult and pediatric patients from Ghana and all over the world.
It quickly became apparent that FOCOS needed a home of its own to keep up with the health needs of the population and to provide the highest quality of care. Dr. Boachie-Adjei, realized a sustainable solution was needed and set out to deliver healthcare to underserved patients throughout the world.
In 2005, FOCOS purchased the Watson House and converted it to a medical clinic. The goal was to provide out-patient care including pre and post operative surgical evaluations. FOCOS was able to obtain state-of-the-art equipment and began programs to train local medical professionals. While the Watson House was a wonderful home for the FOCOS team, it was merely the foundation for a greater vision.
