Coronary Angioplasty Surgery in Lagos
A operation known as angioplasty is used to clear closed coronary arteries caused by coronary artery disease. It prevents open-heart surgery by restoring blood supply to the heart muscle. In an emergency situation, such as a heart attack, angioplasty may be performed.
A long, narrow tube (catheter) is inserted into a blood vessel and directed to the blocked coronary artery during angioplasty. A small balloon is attached to the catheter’s tip. The balloon is inflated at the compressed region of the heart artery until the catheter is in operation. This pushes the plaque or blood clot against the artery’s ends, allowing more blood to flow in.
