Retrograde Intrarenal Surgery (RIRS) in Lagos
RIRS uses a laser and a viewing tube called a fiberoptic endoscope that passes through the urethra into the kidney to extract stones without making any incisions on the kidney. The procedure may be done under general, local, or spinal anaesthesia. This technique necessitates the use of a specialist urologist with RIRS training.
The operation must be performed inside the kidney without the need for any external cuts. With the aid of a live X-ray, or fluoroscopy, the instrument is pushed up and down the urethra before being inserted into the kidney. The treatment is minimally invasive, making it an excellent option for treating difficult conditions.
