Dr Oben Sammy
Dr Sammy Orock OBEN has worked as a physician and later as a General/Plastic Surgeon at various Christian missionary, governmental, and other health facilities within his native country Cameroon and the Central African subregion of CEMAC since completing his basic medical training at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and subsequent post graduate trainings at the University of Yaoundé- Cameroon and The Free University of Brussel-Belgium, respectively.
Dr. OBEN voluntarily left the medical services of The Apostolic Church of Cameroon in 2011 to focus on advocacy and strategic health policy, social services, impacting health care in disadvantaged societies, and long-term community development in Cameroon and other central and west African countries. In 2011, he cofounded WECCARE FOUNDATION with his wife, Mrs. OBEN Dorothy Manyi, a non-profit organisation with headquarters across Simbock-Yaoundé, Cameroon, and activities in the CEMAC zone.
Dr. OBEN founded Hadassah Hospitals Cameroon in 2012 and served as the first Chief Medical Director of the organization’s first medical facility in Simbock-Yaoundé, Cameroon. He is also the current head of the Hadassah Medical Centre’s Department of Plastic, Aesthetics/Reconstructive Surgery, and Regenerative Medicine in Simbock Yaoundé. In the CEMAC zone countries of Central Africa, Dr. Oben is the leading SMILE TRAIN partner surgeon for OROFACIAL Cleft reconstruction. He is a founding member of the Cameroon College of Physicians and Surgeons and a qualified member of the Cameroon Medical Council.
His family resides in Yaoundé, Cameroon, and he is married with five children.
