Aortopulmonary (AP) Window Surgery in Lagos
Aortopulmonary window is a heart defect in which a void exists between the blood vessel that feeds the heart (the aorta) and the blood vessel that feeds the lungs (the pulmonary artery) (pulmonary artery). Blood from the aorta floods through the pulmonary artery, causing an excessive amount of blood to circulate into the lungs.
The aortopulmonary window is a relatively uncommon congenital heart disease, accounting for less than 0.1 percent of all congenital heart defects. It’s a kind of congenital heart defect, which means it’s present from birth.
