Coronary Angiography Surgery in Lagos
Coronary angiography is a technique that involves taking a special X-ray of the arteries of the heart (coronary arteries) to see whether they are shortened or blocked. It’s a crucial procedure that’s performed when a doctor detects coronary heart disease. A catheter (a long thin tube) is inserted into an artery in the groyne, inside the shoulder, or at the wrist, and the operation is performed under local anaesthetic. The catheter is advanced through the artery’s interior until it meets the nucleus. Since injecting a particular dye into the coronary arteries, X-rays are obtained. The X-ray scan (also known as a ‘coronary angiogram’) provides accurate knowledge about the heart and coronary arteries.
