Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) in Lagos
Lithotripsy is a surgical treatment that is used to cure kidney stones as well as stones in other organs including the gallbladder and liver.
Sound waves are used in lithotripsy to break up massive kidney stones into smaller fragments. High-energy shock waves are another name for these sound waves. Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy is the most common form of lithotripsy (ESWL).
The term “extracorporeal” refers to something that exists outside of the body. It refers to the cause of the shock waves in this situation. The shock waves are produced by a special machine called a lithotripter during ESWL. The waves reach your body and tear the stones apart.
