Gastric Band in Lagos
LAGB (laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding) is a medical technique in which a laparoscope is used to insert an adjustable belt over the upper portion of the stomach.
LAGB reduces the size of the stomach and the amount of food it can store in the end. It also delays food digestion in the intestine. As a result, impulses from the stomach to the brain make for a feeling of fullness and satiety when consuming less food. This signal is transmitted from a small pouch in the upper stomach formed by the band. As the pouch expands, the same signal is transmitted to the brain as when the stomach is completely full.
