Microdochectomy in Lagos
The term “microdochectomy” refers to the removal of a breast duct. To locate the beginning of the nipple discharge, a probe will be inserted into one of the ducts from the breast draining to the nipple. The discharge-causing region of the breast would then be removed.
In the breast, there are about 12-15 glandular ducts that open up to the nipple surface. The breast ducts are affected by a number of breast diseases. Microdochectomy, also known as Breast Duct Excision, is a procedure that is used to treat chronic nipple discharge from a single duct. The single milk duct is removed during this procedure.
