Modified Radical Mastectomy in Lagos
A mastectomy is a surgical procedure that removes a breast and often surrounding tissues in order to treat breast cancer. For a long time, the traditional procedure for breast cancer was a radical mastectomy, which included the removal of the entire breast, lymph nodes in the underarm, and some of the chest muscles under the breast. Surgical advancements, on the other hand, have given people more choices than ever before. Many women will benefit from less invasive breast-conserving procedures.
MRM can be divided into two categories:
Patey’s Operation (Patey modified radical mastectomy). The pectoralis major muscle is preserved in this form, but the pectoralis minor muscle is not.
Auchincloss Operation (Auchincloss modified radical mastectomy). Both the pectoralis major and minor muscles are preserved in this form.
