Sickle cell anaemia, also known as sickle cell disease (SCD), is a red blood cell disease caused by a genetic mutation (RBCs). RBCs are normally shaped like discs, which allows them to pass through even the smallest blood vessels. The RBCs in this disorder, on the other hand, have an irregular crescent shape that resembles a sickle.
