UPJ Obstruction Surgery in Lagos
A blockage at the junction where the ureter connects to the kidney is known as ureteropelvic junction obstruction. As a result, the flow of urine down the ureter is reduced, and the fluid pressure within the kidney rises. Kidney function can deteriorate over time as a result of increased pressure within the kidney. The obstruction may be congenital (the patient was born with it), or it may arise over time as a result of injuries or changes in body structure as the patient ages. Scar tissue, kinking, a blood artery, or a tumour may both cause a blockage.
