Urethroplasty Surgery in Lagos
Urethroplasty is a procedure that involves removing scar tissue from the urinary duct that runs from the bladder to the penis. There are a variety of surgeries that can be used to correct this, all of which aim to maximise the size of the urinary channel in order to enhance urine flow.
Over the region of the stricture in the foreskin, scrotum, or perineum, an incision is made (the area between the scrotum and the anus). A urethral catheter is left in for two to four weeks after surgery, based on the type of surgery done. When patients return to the facility, the catheter is carefully inserted and the bladder is filled with X-ray contrast.
