Dr. George William Galiwango

Dr. George Galiwango is an expert in cleft surgery, microsurgery, orthopedic surgery, post-burn reconstruction, hypospadias surgery, and head and neck surgery.

Dr. George is passionate about using therapeutic practice to provide hope and restore functional and aesthetic well-being. He is currently the Director of the CORSU Rehabilitation Hospital’s Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

With this as my guiding concept, I dedicated my career to providing hope and restoring functional and aesthetic well-being through clinical treatment.

I am a self-motivated and self-driven Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with extensive experience and a proven track record of great service delivery in the following areas:

I have a reputation as the Head of the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at CORSU Rehabilitation Hospital for bringing together a cohesive, patient-centered team. My ability to use cutting-edge ideas to develop processes, streamline procedures, raise productivity, and identify innovative cost-effective solutions through the adoption of lean initiatives has boosted my career significantly. I am a dynamic team-builder and hands-on leader who approaches problem-solving, conflict resolution, and consensus-building with an open and pragmatic mindset.

I am an articulate public speaker who is capable of conveying knowledge to a wide range of audiences. I’ve contributed to a number of publications and spoken at conferences where I was invited to speak to colleagues and members of various communities.

As a mentor and clinical educator for young plastic surgeons in Uganda, an executive coach with substantial one-on-one and team coaching expertise. Passionate about demonstrating impact through innovation that leverages and converts opportunities and networks!

As an honorary senior lecturer in the department of Surgery at Mbarara University of Science and Technology, I have been actively involved in clinical and didactic instruction of Masters students in Plastic Surgery (Mbarara University of Science and Technology) for the past 7 years.

In collaboration with changing Faces and SmileTrain, spearheading ongoing efforts at CORSU with international partners in cleft care.
