Thoracentesis in Lagos
Thoracentesis is a technique that removes fluid or air from the lungs’ surrounding area. A needle is inserted into the pleural area via the chest wall. The pleural space is the narrow space between the lung’s pleura and the inner chest wall. A double layer of membranes covers the lungs, forming the pleura. There is a small amount of fluid within the space. When you cough, the fluid keeps the pleura from rubbing together. Pleural effusion is the accumulation of fluid in the pleural space. When this occurs, breathing becomes more difficult when the lungs are unable to completely inflate. This will result in discomfort and shortness of breath. Physical exercise can exacerbate these symptoms.
