Seventy-five percent of the building’s construction cost was been covered by the German Evangelical Church, while the rest was been covered by welfare organizations, including the National Lottery Administration, which gave nearly one million birrs. In addition to over 6,000,000 birrs, the emperor himself had given 33,000 sqm of land to the Hailselasie I Foundation. It was during the Ethiopian Millennium celebrations in 2007 that St. Paul’s opened a medical college after serving the nation exclusively as a hospital for 60 years.

In the first two years since its establishment, the hospital performed 52 nephrectomies and 200 patients have received services till now.
